Methodology and sources
Listings and comparisons
The site displays a local dataset of filament names, print settings, indicative prices, material properties, descriptions and outdoor ratings. Each product page links to a manufacturer or brand page. Not every value is individually linked to a technical data sheet, and the prices and specifications may be outdated. They are not presented as measurements made by this site.
Mechanical properties depend on formulation, test method, orientation and print settings. Values from different data sheets may not be directly comparable; a glass-transition value is not a safe operating temperature. Check the manufacturer’s current data sheet and safety instructions before use. Outdoor ratings are site categories, not durability tests or a service-life guarantee.
Picker
The picker uses fixed points for selected applications and matching material properties, a penalty for some materials when no enclosure is selected, a small ranking tie-breaker and matching use-case tags. It filters flexible selections to TPU and hot-environment selections to entries with a listed glass transition of at least 90°C, then sorts the results and displays up to three entries. A glass-transition threshold does not establish a safe operating temperature. The score is not a probability, test result, safety assessment or AI model. It cannot evaluate your printer, ventilation, food-contact requirements or load-bearing design.
Safety and source examples
Bambu Lab's PETG HF safety tips say the filament is not food-grade and advise against food contact. Bambu Lab's ASA safety tips warn of harmful gases including styrene. NIOSH discusses emissions and ventilation controls. Manufacturer guidance is specific to the product; consult the relevant manufacturer for other filaments.
Prusa's Prusament PETG data sheet reports elongation at yield for particular printed specimens, not the same measurement as elongation at break. We omit the unverified break value rather than substituting the yield value.
